Byrdie Beauty Lab 2022

Byrdie is one of my favorite digital publications. Each article is authentic, informative, and purely immaculate. Their overall mission is to celebrate individuality and empower readers to find confidence, community, and joy in beauty.

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend Byrdie Beauty Lab! I was beyond grateful when I received an invite to this irl event and immediately RSVP’d. Here’s a recap of my experience:

Gwen and I walked into the Chelsea Industrial on a sunny Saturday morning. We were warmly greeted and given a tote bag with plentiful free samples from brands like Supergoop!, Clevr, Joaquina Botanica, and Valentino.

The room had such positive energy, and I loved being surrounded by so many like-minded beauty connoisseurs. Though NYFW had just ended the day before, I was still taking inspiration from the event goers’ fashion and beauty looks.

The first room had a variety of services and brand activations. First up was a Stretch'D Face*ssage, a facial massage that's intended to lift, sculpt, define, and release tension. It felt soooo good and made me realize how much tension I hold, especially in my jaw.

Next was a more holistic beauty activity: Intention Setting with Smudge Wellness crystals. I picked the clear quartz crystal for its translucent white color, but was also eyeing the baby-pink rose quartz. Then, I wrote my affirmation, which was “I am valued and loved.” (Something we all need to remind ourselves.)

Then, I got to treat myself to a mini facial from Skin Gym! This service is designed to release tension, relax the face, and treat with gua sha and LED light. When my facialist was done, she adorned me with a Gold Foil Eye Mask, made with 24K gold. Talk about a luxurious and glamorous experience! The icing on the cake was that my pink workout dress was the exact same shade of pink as the Skin Gym products — it’s like it was meant to be.

Also, you can bet I (shamelessly) kept on the Gold Foil Eye Mask after the event, and strutted down the streets of New York with it on.

PS-A few event goers legitimately thought I was an influencer as I documented this Skin Gym service. They weren’t far off, as I’m an Influencer Marketing Coordinator.

We also can’t forget the mirror by the StriVectin table that said, “You are more than your reflection.” We all took mirror selfies to share this message that beauty is more than skin deep.

The other brand activations and services included: Press on Nails with PaintLab, Express Makeovers with Clinique, Eye and Brow Glitter with Too’D Cosmetics, Candle Pouring with Wax Buffalo, and Rellery Jewelry.

On the way to the panel room, we walked past L'Occitane Beauty In Bloom, a stunning arrangement of fresh flowers in all shades of purple – from pale lavender, to electric violet, to a deep royal purple. I loved this natural touch and the captivating floral scent.

Moving on, one of my favorite monthly articles to read is the Editor Picks. Upon walking into the panel room, these products were displayed like masterpieces in an art gallery — which they undoubtedly are, between the aesthetic packaging and high-quality formulas.

We then got to watch some engaging panels. First was a calming meditation and sound bath, followed by an Ulta Beauty panel that celebrated the origin stories of four Latina women in the beauty and wellness industry. I unfortunately didn’t get to see the last few panels (Beneath the Crown, Buzzy Beauty, and Renée Rouleau) as I had to catch my flight back to Maine.

Lastly, I also had the pleasure of getting to meet some members of the Byrdie team, including three of the editors: Hallie, Eden, and Olivia. I adore them and it was a dream to meet them. They were so kind and effortlessly graceful — and of course, their skin was as flawless and glowing as ever!

This was such an amazing event to round off my work week in the city – it truly was a treat for the mind, body, and soul. The artistry with which each element of the event was curated showed the intent that went into planning this experience for their community. I left there with a goodie bag of beauty samples and such a grateful heart.
